Asian representation has always been lacking within the western music industry, however within recent years there has been a little bit more diversity within the industry. With a current interest in rap and hip-hop and a indonesion heritage I decided to focus this project in that area. Focusing on subjects such as stereotypes, authenticity and post colonialism within indonesian rap and hip-hop culture. The following pieces are influenced by responses from an anonymous survey about the influence and modern representation of indonesian rap and hip-hop, with some using quotes from the answers within the survey.
